Today’s creation comes from overwhelming a fear of the cold – cold call that is. For anyone who has ever worked in sales, chosen to become an independent contractor or run a business we recognize that icy stare of potential rejection, or even worse indifference. But what I’ve discovered is we usually create our own fears. We fight against the stories created in our own heads and hearts.

On the other end of that phone is another human being with their own fears and challenges. When they pick up the line we are already asking of their time so make the message brief, non confrontational or heavy sales and offer something simple to make them feel good about the conversation. Stay far and clear of eagerness and needyness. People generally want to help others, that’s one of the gifts we are all born with, but remember no one wants to help someone who doesn’t make an attempt to help themselves.
