This Game of Life

Your hot breath singes my shoulders,
as I reach in darkest night.
Moonbeams sprinkle across the horizon,
as I race from wrong to right.
Time spins like a whirlwind,
across sand, sleet and snow.
Taking with it all innocence and patience,
to yield, learn and grow.
I accept this game of life,
dice cast to move me on.
Each day breeds new wonder,
with sun’s breaking dawn.
Abandon days long since past
with a fond wave and kiss goodbye.
For today life springs far forward,
with wings designed to fly.
