Today marks the last day of my life’s year, for tomorrow the sands of time slide closer and closer to the half century mark. I look now at the shifting tides of decades past – birthdays tend to do that. I was twenty when I first learned of my adoptive history. When the “3 0” candles topped the cake adolescence gave way to settling down and starting a family. Then at forty, my career shifted from employee to employer.

Today, surrounded by the love of family, nourished by a home cooked meal, and rejuvenated by a mid afternoon nap to catch up on late night writing sessions I created a transition towards greater purpose, value, joy and above all love.
