Today, and for the next two days I’ll be walking like an Egyptian at Hollywood & Highland attending the 2012 StoryWorld Conference. About 300 of us producers, digital techs, “transmedial” storytellers have all gathered to inspire, innovate and influence the next evolution of entertainment.
This afternoon one of the topics that came up was “play” and how even as adults it is one of the most important sources of creativity we have.
Play enhances intimacy. (Hello 50 Shades of Grey)
Play is the key to the evolution of our brains. It connects our Primitive, Emotional and Creative brain centers.
Play floods our brains with pictures and stories.
Play is serious business. Just look at the billions of dollars spent on game consoles, mobile apps and internet sites.
Play requires active participation. Its greatest satisfaction comes from the process not the results.
So in honor of all this talk of play, I’m looking through new lenses today. They’re oversized, green and have these crazy extended lashes coming off the side…and I love the outrageous sights they reveal.
